The idea behind Tapestry of Science

Tapestry of Science was created from a simple but important idea:  that health is shaped by many interconnected factors, over time.  Nutrition, body composition, daily routines, stress, sleep and life experiences all play a role, and all influence the outcome.  Understanding how all these pieces fit together – for you – can bring clarity and create a more sustainable path forward.

Our Philosophy

Tapestry of Science is grounded in evidence-based nutrition care, with a focus on understanding your individual physiology and your real-life context.  Rather than focusing on quick fixes or rigid rules, the goal is to help you build a practical, personalized approach that fits your life and supports your long-term health.

What it’s like to work together

At Tapestry of Science, care is a collaborative process.

We take the time to understand your health history, your goals, and what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past.  From there, we develop a plan that is realistic, adaptable and aligned with how you want to live.

The goal isn’t perfection.  It’s building a strong foundation so your body is better prepared for whatever the future may bring.

Body Composition

At Tapestry of Science, we use body composition analysis as one of several tools to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface.  These insights are never used in isolation or to drive rigid targets.  Instead, they are interpreted within the broader context of your health, your experience and your goals.

About Sara

Sara Sturgess, MS, RDN, CPT is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and the founder of Tapestry of Science.

She brings over 25 years of experience in nutrition and has deep roots in the local community.  Her approach is shaped not only by formal training and evidence-based practice, but also by real-life experience – understanding that health is influenced by the many demands, transitions and complexities people navigate over time.

She brings a thoughtful, personalized approach to care, with a focus on helping clients better understand their bodies and build sustainable strategies to fit their lives.

Her background also includes personal training, allowing her to integrate movement and body composition into a broader, practical approach to health.

Tapestry of Science is a place for thoughtful, individualized care – where the focus is on understanding, not judgement; and on building something sustainable.

Care is grounded in both science and real-life experience, with the understanding that meaningful change happens over time.
